Lowell City Councilor Patrick Murphy is my twin brother.  He is also the worst-paying customer when it comes to political consulting.  I managed Patrick’s successful campaign for council in his first attempt.  I will forever be an unpaid advisor, but the rewards are realized in the work that he is doing.  He is fighting for equity among the neighborhoods, for a greener, more sustainable economy and environment, and for the city’s taxpayers–creating a culture of responsibility and accountability in City Hall that reduces or eliminates waste in its many forms.  A result of his work building support and leading on key initiatives during his short tenure, Patrick has helped to adopt a more environmentally sound and conservation-oriented building code, pressed management to write and adopt a city-wide purchasing policy for fuel-efficient vehicles, fund energy-saving capital improvements through realized savings, and put Lowell well on its way to earning the designation of a “Green Community”, which will allow it to access millions of dollars of grant money over the next three years for energy projects in the city.  He has also led the way on directing the city to implement LowellStat, a program modeled after CitiStat, which provides for a more efficient way of conducting the city’s business.  He has also raised motions to implement a performance-based budget, which will create more accountability and will identify areas of the city’s accounts that need improvement or elimination.  You can click on the picture of his website below to learn more about his work.
